June 2007 - Fleet offers highest level of customer and community support
HVAC company 'gives back' through donations and volunteering'

When Dan Gaddis, owner of Fleet Heating and Air Conditioning, left Seattle a decade ago, he was looking for a community where he could make a difference as both a business owner and a resident.
He and his wife, Heather, also were looking for just the right place to raise their family. They found it all here in the Truckee Meadows.
"We wanted to move to a smaller area that was growing with opportunity and had a good quality of life," said Gaddis, who started Fleet in 1998.
It didn't take long for the business to grow from 200 customers that first year to several thousand and to form partnerships with well-established area firms that included Western Nevada Supply, First Independent Bank of Nevada and Lee Bros. Sales & Leasing, Inc.
In just a short time, Fleet was working with several production- and custom-home builders, as well as commercial builders.
"Fleet has installed the heating and air conditioning in the majority of residential homes since 1998 and is currently involved in more than 40 new-home communities," Gaddis said. "If someone has bought a home in the past nine years, Fleet has more than likely had a hand in it."
The company also works to help the Reno-Sparks community. In fact, it's one of the things Gaddis requires from his management team.
Along with several other management team members, Fleet General manager Bill Fisher serves on the Board of Directors for the Builders Association of Northern Nevada. Service Manager Jeremy Thompson volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Gaddis has served on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows for six years and is a board member of the Athletic Association of the University of Nevada.
Annually, the company gives financial support to a number of organizations, including: Little League; Babe Ruth; fast-pitch softball; WNCC baseball; several rodeo associations; local elementary, middle and high schools; youth soccer; Casa de Vida; and University of Nevada athletics.
"I am a firm believer that what I have earned in my community through hard work should be given back to those who need help," Gaddis said. "It's an infinite circle."
He also believes in providing service at the highest level, and he does that with an impressive group of employees.
"We have about 55 employees, with at least 100 years of experience in just our management staff," he said.
Sixty percent of the company's business comes from new construction, 25 percent is commercial and 15 percent is service-related.
"We pride ourselves that we give 110-percent effort in our commitment to great service," Gaddis said.
"We service commercial buildings, industrial buildings, apartment complexes and single homes with the same commitment to be there long after the job is done."
